Information security is an essential part of data protection. However, many data protection officers may hesitate to engage with these issues in detail. The obligation to implement security measures appears in numerous sections of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Not only do the principles of data protection (Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the GDPR) emphasize the need for appropriate security measures for the data being processed, but these measures are also referenced in many other provisions. So, what exactly are “appropriate measures” in terms of data protection? What technical and organizational measures can, for example, be demonstrated by contractors to secure a data processing agreement? How do I audit the security measures of my contractor, and what should I pay attention to?
This training will explain which technical and organizational measures play a crucial role in data protection, what to look out for, and how to identify common deficiencies, even without deep technical expertise. Through numerous practical examples, small exercises, and answers to current or recurring questions, participants will have the opportunity to sharpen their understanding of this topic and be able to actively engage when it comes to implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures.
This training is designed to refresh existing knowledge or to provide a foundational understanding of information security. Those who have previously attended trainings on the old Federal Data Protection Act or the GDPR, or have acquired basic knowledge through self-study and practical experience, are welcome, as are those seeking this knowledge as a prerequisite for more advanced trainings. It is suitable for all interested parties, but particularly for Data Protection Officers and Data Protection Coordinators who want to organize and deepen their knowledge of relevant GDPR topics and compliance obligations, as well as for data protection teams (coordinators) within a company or authority that wish to address specific implementation issues through a structured training session and need a foundational or refresher course on the topic.
