Since May 2018, the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) must be observed when processing personal data. For the first time, data protection law has been uniformly regulated across all EU member states. However, due to so-called “opening clauses”, important data protection regulations can still be found in national laws (e.g., the Federal Data Protection Act, LDSG, SGB, etc.).
As a result, companies and public authorities face the challenge of understanding these various regulations and implementing the resulting obligations. Those responsible for implementing these regulations often feel overwhelmed by the multitude of tasks. A common issue is the lack of a structured overview of essential data protection principles and requirements.
In our one-day training, we will review the structure, framework, and principles of the General Data Protection Regulation, along with the resulting obligations for controllers and processors, as well as the rights of data subjects. The training will also provide ample opportunity for discussion, networking, and addressing participants’ concerns. Additionally, the afternoon content can be tailored to the needs of the group based on participants’ requests.
This training is designed for individuals looking to refresh or acquire fundamental knowledge of data protection. Those who have previously attended trainings on the old Federal Data Protection Act or the GDPR, or have gained basic knowledge through self-study and practical implementation, are welcome, as are those who want to acquire this knowledge as a prerequisite for more advanced trainings.
It is suitable for anyone interested in the topic, but especially for Data Protection Officers and Data Protection Coordinators who want to organize and deepen their understanding of the relevant GDPR topics and related obligations.
This training format is also suitable for data protection teams within a company or public authority that wish to address specific implementation issues in the form of a training session and require an introduction or refresher on the basics.
